Vitamin
Vitamins
are essential supplements to your daily diet and overall health. Vitamins
are metabolic substances that are found in foods, liquids, and even the
sun. They help keep your body working by driving your metabolism to help
you digest your food, aiding in your body's process of growth and
development, and even supporting cell function regularity.
In
conjunction with enzymes, vitamins help your white blood cells fight off
infection, keep blood flowing, and fight scar tissue buildup in your body.
While every vitamin helps your body in general, each also has a very
specific function. Diseases can occur as a result of a vitamin deficiency.
Vitamin A,
for example, is a hard-working vitamin that helps promote excellent vision
as well as the formation and upkeep of healthy teeth, skin, mucous
membranes, and more. Also known as retinol, this vitamin is essential in
reproduction and breast-feeding processes. The body can convert the
antioxidant beta carotene into vitamin A, making it a strong ally against
free radicals.
There are
several types of B vitamins, including thiamine (B1), riboflavin (B2),
niacin, vitamin B6, and vitamin B12. Each does its own job, but they
mostly account for hardworking energy used in the metabolic process.
Vitamin C is great for absorption of iron and is particularly useful for
people with anemia. Vitamin D is fat soluble and helps your body absorb
calcium, which leads to healthy bones and teeth. While these and many more
vitamin supplements can be taken daily, it is always wise to consult a
doctor before starting any dietary supplement regimen.
