THE “ GOLDEN HOUR”
It is constantly preached that nutrition is the most
important for everyday in motocross. The original thought was the getting
the nutrients you needed within 1 hour, was sufficient for this anabolic
time frame. The fact is, 55-65 minutes you are getting almost nothing.
Assuming that 15 minutes is 100% potential anabolic
activity within the body, by 45 minutes, it has dropped by 30%. This
“Golden” time frame is more like 15-30 minutes, after that drops off
dramatically. This window within about 45-50 minutes. This time frame is
based off of insulin sensitivity. After just 2 hours, the insulin
sensitivity is back to what is considered normal. This is why both carbs and
protein are vital at this time, especially a faster absorbing carbs like
dextrose.
